Total investment to amount to 120 billion rubles
Fininvest Group of Companies intends to build a backbone network of 11 railway transport and logistics centers (TLC) with a capacity of over 5.65 million TEU (twenty-pound equivalent, standard six-meter containers) per year in the regions of Russia. The volume of investment in the project is estimated at 120 billion rubles, said Alexander Kakhidze.
"We plan to build a backbone network of 11 TLCs with a total capacity of over 5.65 million TEU per year. In connection with the reorientation of cargo flows to the East, modern TLCs created through private investment are already contributing to the solution of state tasks to increase cargo transportation in the limiting sections of the Eastern polygon. Modern multimodal logistics complexes are very capital-intensive investment projects," Kakhidze said.
The infrastructure will be built in the coming years. The centers will be located from the central part of Russia to the Far East. Currently, the Group already has four such facilities in operation: in the Central Transport Hub, Sverdlovsk and Novosibirsk Regions. In the future, the centers will be launched in Primorsky Krai and Kemerovo Region, which will increase the volume of exported containers with imported cargo from the seaports of the Far East.
“In July 2024, the second stage of one of our million-plus terminals, the Sibirsky TLC, will open. We plan to complete this project in 2025. Also in 2024, the first container train is scheduled to arrive at the Artem TLC. This will be the largest dry port in the Far East. In 2025, as part of the first stage of the Artem TLC, we will launch crane technology. The capacity of the Artem TLC will exceed 1 million TEU per year,” the agency’s interlocutor noted.
Kakhidze emphasized that the Group will also invest in the development of railway infrastructure near the terminals. "For the group, the TLCs being created are technological reserves for development. We are trying to maintain the planned pace and have set the task of increasing the volume of transportation this year by 30%," he emphasized.
