On August 10, 2023, the first container train with imported cargo arrived at the Elektrougli station to OTT LLC (Elektrougli Transport and Logistics Center). It traveled from China via the new railway bridge across the Amur River via the Nizhneleninskoye (RF) - Tongjiang (PRC) border crossing. A train of 55 containers with automobile components departed from China on July 28, 2023. The Chinese side's readiness to form container trains at the Tongjiang station (China) made it possible to organize the dispatch of container trains via the Nizhneleninskoye (RF) - Tongjiang border crossing. The bridge project was originally intended for one-way traffic, that is, for the transportation of goods from Russia to China. The bridge was launched in November 2022. It is the first railway bridge crossing across the Amur in China. Its length is 2.2 km with two track standards: for Russian (1,520 mm) and Chinese (1,435 mm) rolling stock. The bridge is designed to handle up to 5.2 million tons of cargo per year, with an expected increase to 20 million tons after the reconstruction of the Birobidzhan-Leninsk railway section. In the future, it is planned to send one container train per week from Tongjiang station.
