The first stage of the Uralsky transport and logistics center (TLC) has opened in Yekaterinburg, becoming the largest in the Ural Federal District (UFD). It has become one of the stages in the creation of a "dry port" in the Sverdlovsk region. Its launch will reduce the time it takes to transport goods to Ural enterprises by 30%.
Alexander Kakhidze, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yekaterinburg Transport Terminal, said that the expected cargo turnover of the TLC will reach 30 million tons by 2030. "Considering the heavy workload of the Trans-Siberian Railway, we, together with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and Russian Railways, have considered the construction of a "dry port" that will be able to accept containers in gondola cars and reload them, send them to the west of our country. And, naturally, ship them to consignees from Yekaterinburg itself. The terminal is actually adjacent to the Yekaterinburg Ring Road and is in high demand," said Mr. Kakhidze.
