The first stage of the Siberian transport and logistics center (TLC) was launched near Novosibirsk. It is larger than its counterparts in the Siberian Federal District. According to the regional authorities, the technology of transporting cargo from gondola cars into containers is used here for the first time.
The press service of the Novosibirsk Region government noted that the launch of the TLC will help increase the volume of containerized cargo transportation along the Trans-Siberian Railway and speed up the delivery of imports from the Far East.
"The launch of the large-scale transport and logistics center of the Novosibirsk Region that took place today is one of the important stages of this systematic work. In total, within the framework of the departmental project ("Formation of a network of transport and logistics centers" of the state program "Development of the transport system"), the construction and modernization of thirty large logistics centers in different regions of the country is planned by the end of 2024," TASS quotes First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov as saying.
Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrei Travnikov noted the importance of opening the TLC. "The location of the choice of implementation of this project is especially important for our region. We are located on the territory of the Industrial and Logistics Park, where more than 30 enterprises, industrial and logistics, with a turnover of 55 billion rubles per year, are already operating," the politician said.
The first train, which was unloaded at the terminal, arrived in Novosibirsk from Vladivostok. Then it will go to Moscow.
The test launch of the first stage of the TLC took place at the end of August. Initially, the cost of building the TLC was 5 billion rubles, but then increased to 15 billion rubles. The area of the facility increased from 30 to 300 hectares. The construction will be fully completed in 2025. The handling capacity is 600 thousand TEU (twenty-foot equivalent containers) per year. Earlier, the head of the Novosibirsk Region Investment Development Agency, Alexander Zyryanov, stated that this figure could increase to 1 million if necessary.
Additional cargo handling capabilities will be created on the site — temporary storage warehouses, sorting, customs clearance, and phytosanitary control — which will reduce the time and cost of delivering goods to Siberia and expand opportunities for exporting products.
